We decided to stay another night so we could go to Lake Moraine also, so we checked out of Invermere and had a reservation in Golden, BC – a bit to the north and west of us, but closer to Lake Louise. We didn’t go until later in the afternoon – you had to take the shuttle between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM because of limited parking. Well, everybody else had that idea – it took about 45 minutes to go the last 1/2 mile. People were coming out, which opened up some parking, but many, many people disregarded the “No Parking” signs and parked 1/2 on the shoulder and 1/2 on the road, which caused those in the lane going up to have to drive partially in the lane going down. It was a big mess. And once in line, you were stuck. We finally made it, got a parking place and walked down to the lake. Absolutely beautiful, but the self-centered, arrogant people who thought the rules didn’t apply to them made it not as much fun as it should have been. Children running wild – in those mountains and on that lake, the canoe rental was closed, but there were some children untying the canoes and getting in them – park officials had to come and just sit on the dock to keep people from getting in the canoes (with NO paddles) and the wind blowing like crazy. When we got back to hotel, there were a couple of firefighters who came in with their gear still on – all sooty – but both of them stopped at the door and took off their boots before going to their rooms.

God sure knows what He’s doing when He creates beautiful mountains and lakes. Don’t think Heaven can be prettier than this.
