Had been planning to attend Lakeside Baptist Church and reunite with all our friends, but my legs hurt and I felt so bad that we ended up not being able to go. Later in the afternoon, we rode up into the Jewel Basin, which is a famous national forest area for hiking. No, I didn’t plan to hike. It was 7 1/2 miles up to the trailhead that leads to one of the most scenic sites of the valley. If you think GA roads have ruts and get washed out, you haven’t been on any of these Montana forest roads. We were going 5mph and I was having to hold on to the holdy on thing on the side of the door to keep from bouncing and hitting my head. And if you’ve ever been to Cataloochee and think that road is windy and narrow, it’s nothing compared to this one. Going up was horrible – I was scared. But coming down – I needed a tranquilizer – it was scary. Have pics – will post later – internet is super slow.
